Novena to Our Lady Of Guadalupe

First Day
Dearest Lady of Guadalupe,
Fruitful Mother of holiness,
Teach me your ways
Of gentleness and strength.
Hear my humble prayer
Offered with heartfelt confidence
To beg this favor (State your petition).

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Second Day
O Mary, conceived without sin,
I come to your throne of grace
To share the fervent devotion
Of your faithful Mexican children
Who call to you
Under the glorious Aztec title of Guadalupe.
Obtain for me a lively faith
To do your Son’s holy will always:
May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Third Day
O Mary,
Whose Immaculate Heart
Was pierced by seven swords of grief,
Help me to walk valiantly
Amid the sharp thorns
Strewn across my pathway.
Obtain for me the strength
To be a true imitator of you.
This I ask you, my dear Mother.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Fourth Day
Dearest Mother of Guadalupe,
I beg you for a fortified will
To imitate your divine Son’s charity,
To always seek the good of others in need.
Grant me this, I humbly ask of you.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Fifth Day
O most holy Mother,
I beg you to obtain for me
Pardon of all my sins,
Abundant graces to serve your Son
More faithfully from now on,
And lastly, the grace to praise Him
With you forever in heaven.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Sixth Day
Mary, Mother of vocations,
Multiply priestly vocations
And fill the earth with religious houses
Which will be light and warmth for the world,
Safety in stormy nights.
Beg your Son to send us
Any priests and religious.
This we ask of you, O Mother.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Seventh Day
O Lady of Guadalupe,
We beg you that parents live
A holy life and educate their children
In a Christian manner;
That children obey and follow
The directions of their parents;
That all members of the family
Pray and worship together.
This we ask of you, O Mother.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Eighth Day
With my heart full
Of the most sincere veneration,
I prostrate myself before you, O Mother,
To ask you to obtain for me
The grace to fulfill the duties
Of my state in life
With faithfulness and constancy.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Ninth Day
O God, You have been pleased
To bestow upon us unceasing favors
By having placed us
Under the special protection
Of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary.
Grant us, your humble servants,
Who rejoice in honoring her today upon earth,
The happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Remember, O most gracious Virgin of Guadalupe,
that in your apparitions on Mount Tepeyac
you promised to show pity and compassion to all who,
loving and trusting you,
seek your help and protection.

Accordingly, listen now to our supplications
and grant us consolation and relief.
We are full of hope that,
relying on your help,
nothing can trouble or affect us.
As you have remained with us through your admirable image,
so now obtain for us the graces we need.

Amen.

Preserve our home from every danger, from fire, flood, lighting, storm, earthquake, thieves, vandals, and from every other danger. Amen.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Mother of Graces

O True treasury of life, perennial river of divine grace, great Queen of Heaven, most Holy Mary, by the ineffable virtues you were so pleasing to god, that you merited to conceive in your virginal womb Jesus Christ, the author himself of life and of grace, and having become Mother of the Man-God, you also became Mother of redeemed Humanity.

Therefore Mother of Grace and of Life, of mercy and of pardon, turn upon me your maternal eyes; contemplate my many spiritual and temporal miseries; raise up to the state of perfect friendship of God; obtain for me the gift of final perseverance.

Whereas you, O Mary, are all-powerful by your prayer to the lord, allow miserable me to choose you as my special patroness.

With the help of your powerful intercession I am certain to obtain of your divine Son, all the graces that are necessary for me to serve God faithfully by the acts of my mind and my body.
In this manner you shall show yourself also to me, in your true character, Mother of divine grace. Thus, I by the grace obtained for me by you, shall live righteously on earth, and shall have the happiness to praise you in heaven. Amen.

Prayer of Surrender

O Jesus, Lord of the universe, I submit all my sorrows and afflictions to your most Sacred Heart. I offer my family, all our grieves and pains to you. I thank you for your care of me since my birth till today. I believe that you will protect us, all our days ahead. I trust in You Jesus and I thank You Lord Jesus.

Most Loving Jesus, fill me and all those around me, with Your Holy Spirit. Lord, we also pray that you lead us and guide us through the Holy Spirit. Thank You Jesus, Praise You Jesus.

Reminder to Pray

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They’d laugh at me I’d fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands GOD held a book;
It was the book of life.

GOD looked into his book and said
“Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down . . . . .
But never found the TIME.”

That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
That in the opinion of the world, others may increase, and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

- Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val

A Prayer for Humility

Lord Jesus Christ,
I pray that you may fortify me with the grace of your Holy Spirit,
and give your peace to my soul,
that I may be free from all needless anxiety and worry.
Help me to desire always that which is pleasing and acceptable to you,
so that your will may be my will.

Grant that I may be free from unholy desires,
and that, for your love,
I may remain obscure and unknown in this world,
to be known only to you.

Do not permit me to attribute to myself
the good that you perform in me and through me,
but rather, referring all honor to you,
may I admit only to my infirmities,
so that renouncing sincerely all vainglory which comes from the world,
I may aspire to that true and lasting glory that comes from you. Amen.

The Sign of the Cross

"The Sign of the Cross is formidable to the devil, because by the Cross we escape from him. We should make the Sign of the Cross with great respect. We begin with the forehead: it is the head, creation - the Father; then the heart: love, life, redemption - the Son; then the shoulders: strength - the Holy Ghost. Everything reminds us of the Cross."

- St. John Vianney
